game of SKATE Hawaii

You’ve heard of that basketball game called “H-O-R-S-E” right? Well did you know there’s another game called “S-K-A-T-E” which is a similar variation of the game that uses a skateboard?

The game of SKATE was first played in the 1970’s by vertical skateboarding legends Lance Mountain, Neil Blender and John Lucero, and was then adopted by street skaters in the 1980’s. Since then it’s become an annual tournament that tours local skate parks around the world to bring together some of the best skateboarders who fight for a spot in the Amateur World Championships.

Yesterday marked the stop of the tour in Honolulu which took place at A’ala Park. Just as any other metropolis, Honolulu has some very talented skateboarders.

We’ll update you with the 2008 final results from game of SKATE Honolulu as they become available…in the meantime take a tour of A’ala Park with the Red Bull Skateboarding Team or tour various skateparks in Hawaii with the QuickSilver Skateboard Team and then if you still need something to do, check out the APB A’ala Park Boardshop.
