Coffee Gallery: A Chill Coffee Spot on Oahu’s North Shore

Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa has that funky, independent vibe chains like Starbucks try to mass-produce: the coffee and specialty drink menus are written on chalkboards overhead. Cute, young baristas have the looks of off-season surfers with the piercings to prove it. There’s a case full of delicious homemade sweets, including vegan stuff. I’m not a vegan, but damnit, hippies make some awesome food.

I always take my out of town visitors here for a coffee and a snack after we’ve done some snorkeling. The coffees are all roasted in-house and you can’t beat the cold drinks. My favorite is the mocha freeze, which is not your average overly-sweetened frappuccino—this baby has some bite. My husband goes mental over all the chocolatey baked goods, like dipped macaroons.

Coffee Gallery’s screened in porch is a perfect place to cool off, relax, and talk for a while. You’ll get some great people watching, too. There are usually the old with their books and the young with laptops (because they’ve got FREE wi-fi), the average joe and the wonderfully eccentric, locals and visitors.

Coffee Gallery is off Kam Highway in the North Shore Marketplace. Map

  1. This place is a true gem. I stumbled upon it when my wife was on assignment in Pearl Harbor. Awesome coffee and the best damn chocolate chip banana bread I’ve ever tasted.

  2. @Joey how right you are! One of the many hidden local coffee spots on Oahu. Better to support local than those WORLDWIDE chains…LOL!
