A little over a month ago (June 1st), we were invited to attend the celebration, blessing, and dedication of Hawaiian Airlines newest aircraft, the Airbus A330-200, which is named Makali’i. It was a spectacular coming together in recognition of the strength and service that is simply Hawaiian. Guest speakers in attendance were Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO, Mark Dunkerley as well as Airbus Americas Chairman, Allan McArtor and Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle (R).

One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to talk very briefly with Hawaiian President & CEO, Mark Dunkerley and get his “shotgun” feel of excitement regarding the new Honolulu to Tokyo (Haneda) route that is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2010 – Hawaiian will initially offer the flight via the Boeing 767-300ER (264 Passenger) aircraft with a shift later to their new Airbus A330-200 (294 Passenger) aircraft – Mr. Dunkerley was excited and welcoming to both existing and new Japanese customers who will find that the service on Hawaiian Airlines is like none other and focuses on the “Aloha Spirit” that is unique to the Hawaiian culture.
