Vinyl Wine Debut Album Release
Support a band, VINYL WINE, that is known to keep the animals up past their bed time, at their album release party on Saturday April 23, 2011 at 9:00pm at Kelley O’Neils at 311 Lewers Street, Honolulu HI 96815. VINYL WINE has clearly made an impact on the music scene on Oahu with numerous shows all over the island and a following of locals and tourists alike. With their new, very fittingly entitled album “Another Weekend,” Vinyl Wine has managed to capture the essence of being a rock band. This is a show not to be missed. In true Vinyl Wine style, the show will be full of high energy and will captivate the audience with the creative flare that fans have come to love.
VINYL WINE plays at Lulu’s every Friday night and Matty Liu, Promotions Director at Lulu’s feels that “Vinyl Wine is by far the most exciting party band in all of Hawaii. When they play a live show it’s full blast, they know how to bring the show! Good times and great music. That’s Vinyl Wine…”
“Another Weekend” was recorded from start to finish in Honolulu’s Chinatown and mastered by Jeff Lipton of Peerless mastering in Boston, MA. The album, hopefully the first of many, is a pleasant divergence from the onslaught of the “same old same old” music played by so many current bands in Hawaii. The album is clearly a product of its time, with a wide variety of musical influences, but sounds like hand claps, percussion and gang vocals give it a lively feel with a throwback to the older days. Though their musical styles and influences span punk to reggae and hip-hop to funk, Vinyl Wine definitely identifies as a rock band. The album is pleasantly danceable and has a great range; their style is distinct, but the album still feels like listening to a well-crafted mix tape – anything but boring.
It is our pleasure to introduce you to the members of Vinyl Wine: Chris Mozo is the lead vocalist and plays the acoustic guitar. Chris started playing music as a way to connect with people through his music and lyrics. With a wide-range of influences from 2Pac to Johnny Cash and Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sublime to Sex Pistols, it is not hard to see why the band’s sound is as diverse. Despite being named Cosmopolitan’s most eligible bachelor November 2001 in Hawaii and playing a bad disco dancer on a commercial for McDonald’s, Chris is still down to earth. Next we have Todd Elrod playing the electric guitar and singing backup vocals. Starting out playing the clarinet, Todd tested out the drums in middle school and quickly moved to the guitar in high school. He developed his talents while playing in the Seattle grunge scene of the 90′s. Todd’s college band gained notoriety at Washington State. It was destiny when Todd moved to Hawaii all the way from Seattle to meet Chris and create VINYL WINE. Up next we have Aaron Friedman on the bass. Raised on hip hop in Oakland, CA, Aaron’s musical tastes and experiences have diversified since moving to Hawaii, ranging from reggae to funk and rock to samba. Aaron is a partner in Fort Union Studio, where he engineered the VINYL WINE debut album. Last but not least is Seann Carroll the drummer. Seann started out playing mostly jazz until he moved to Hawaii from Seattle, WA. His complex rhythms and sweet beats have led Seann to share the stage with Jake and Bruce Shimabukuro, John and Guy Cruz, Anuhea and others.
The second track on “Another Weekend”, titled Till Monday is definitely going to be appropriate for the album release show. Till Monday is about celebrating the weekend. We work hard Monday through Friday and the weekends are for living!

Saturday April 23rd at Kelley O’Neils, VINYL WINE will put on a show not to be missed.
