My Dad, John Paul Grey served with you on San Francisco. He was 19 on 12-7-41, and was assigned to fire control. He was also on board San Frisco on 11-13-42.
He also was friends with (grew up in Ky.) Cliff Spencer, of whom I think you probably know/ served with. I swap email’s with cliff on occasion. Dad died in 1997.

The first season of the new Hawaii Five-0 series was fun to watch and kept my attention. The second season started out strong though found a couple of shows a bit lame. This week they are back on track.

It’s a bonus to see those awesome scenes of Waikiki beach, Duke’s Lagoon, Ala Wai Canal and other favorite locales. I wrote a three part piece comparing the original and new Hawaii Five-0 shows. Hey Vernon:

This is a great point you bring up about getting a rental over a hotel room. Besides the cost savings, a hotel room will never give you the feeling of actually living in Hawaii. It is almost “fictional.”

Living in a house, cooking, gathering groceries (killing a pig, picking taro and fruits.. ha ha. Kidding. We do have grocery stores here) and the rest of everyday living let’s you get a feel of Hawaiian life.

Way to promote Hawaiian Tunes!
